REASON FOR EXAM:
Stroke
56-year-old male evaluate for CVA
Right-sided weakness and numbness
Right visual disturbance

TECHNIQUE:
Multiplanar pre and post contrast MR images of the posterior fossa and supratentorial cranium were obtained.

Imaging following the uneventful IV administration of gadolinium was performed.
Diffusion-weighted images are provided.

FINDINGS:
There is no mass effect, midline shift, or hydrocephalus.
The 4th ventricle is in the midline of the posterior fossa.

Ventricles are normal in size and contour.
Optic globes and internal auditory canals are symmetric.

On T2 weighted sequences there are normal T2 flow voids in the vertebrobasilar system and intracranial internal carotid arteries and middle cerebral arteries.

Corpus callosum is normal and cerebellar tonsils are nondisplaced.

There are no diffusion-weighted abnormalities.
No evidence for acute CVA.
Following the uneventful IV administration of gadolinium, no enhancing mass lesions or enhancement abnormalities or discernible.
Partial opacification mastoid air cells bilaterally may reflect mastoiditis, correlate clinically. Frontal sphenoid ethmoid and maxillary sinuses are clear.



IMPRESSION:

1. No MR manifestation of acute intracranial process.
2. Partial opacification of mastoid air cells bilaterally may reflect mastoiditis, correlate clinically.
