Post heart surgery. TECHNIQUE: CT angiogram of the chest was obtained using high-resolution axial volumetric acquisition with a multidetector CT scanner following a timed injector injected intravenous bolus of ____ cc of ____ nonionic water soluble contrast material. Post processing of the dataset was obtained with three-dimensional coronal maximum intensity projection reconstructed images provided as well. Additionally, axial plane images were obtained prior to intravenous contrast administration. FINDINGS: Changes of median sternotomy. Postoperative changes of the mediastinum include some minimal substernal air, two mediastinal chest tubes. Small pneumomediastinum. No aortic aneurysm or dissection. No filling defects can be demonstrated in the pulmonary arteries that indicate acute pulmonary embolus. Small pleural effusions. Small right sided pneumothorax, measured anteriorly approximately 10mm. Dependent parenchymal opacities likely reflect atelectasis. IMPRESSION: 1. Postoperative changes. Pneumomediastinum, presumably postoperative. Clinical correlation. 2. Very small right pneumothorax can be detected on CT, appears undetectable on prior chest x-rays.
